Pondicherry, a small town within the state of Tamil Nadu is home to many small hamlets and villages like Villianur and Ariyannakuppam.

These hamlets have some of the most colorful and beautifully designed makeshift homes with no physical and social boundaries; where neighbors share their walls, wash dishes in their front porch and breed chickens in their verandahs. The architecture is minimalistic, need based and retains elements of yesteryear traditions like Red Oxide flooring that are environmentally sustainable, straw mats made of natural dyes for shade against the harsh heat and colorfully painted walls.

Life is a public affair and a colorful celebration.
